Sir William Arrol being honoured in Glasgow

A plaque to honouring the achievements of Sir William Arrol is to be placed on Great Western Bridge near to the entrance to Kelvinbridge subway station in Glasgow.  Sir William Arrol was the contractor resonsible for building the Forth Rail Bridge, Tay Bridge, Tower Bridge and many other bridges, including the Great Western Bridge. The Institution of Civil Engineers suggested the plaque to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Sir William Arrol’s death.
